#80 Rocking Chair

It's no secret that sometimes when the nesting craze hits expectant parents, it can be easy to go a bit overboard & end up with things that aren't needed & are never used.
However you can also end up in the opposite situation where something you dismissed as frivolous, really would have been quite incredibly nice, if not necessary, to have.
That was the case for me & the concept of a feeding chair. I realised that not having one was a mistake quite early on in the piece but had a strange (but unfortunately not uncommon)  little stubborn thing going on with myself that stopped me from rectifying the situation & as a result spent about a year in odd & uncomfortable nighttime feeding positions while dreaming of a comfy chair.

I'm now a bit in love with the Nurseryworks sleepytime rocker nursery chair - Ecru....

I have that first chair bookmarked as a bit of a dream for any possible future babies...
I think perhaps I would spend a lot more time accidentally sleeping in the nursery in a chair like that? But surely worth it?

The Nurseryworks chairs aren't cheap however, available from bebe online for $1249.95 & the stool for $699.95 with 10% off for bebe VIP members.
So I think that for me, this will be an inspiration chair...

#69 Paper Animals

I first saw these paper animals on samantha luck, designed by madeleine rogers they are available from Mibo.
What a brilliant rainy day project!

The Wild Bunch

You receive these animal packs flat printed on 100% recycled card along with full instructions. All you need is a ruler, a pair of scissors & glue.
Each animal takes about 5 - 10 minutes to make & the finished products range in height from 6cm to 15cm.
They are recommended for ages six & up, but I think that realistically it is one of those projects that even though a child younger than that would obviously need a little more help, they would still be captivated by the transformation of these little creatures.
They range in price from only 6 - 8.75 pounds (2.95 postage worldwide).

Wise Guys Forest Friends Xmas Creatures
Jet Set Pets The Yolk Folk The Carrot Crew

These prints would look fabulous in a nursery, children's bedroom or playroom.
They are printed using vegetable based inks onto 100% recycled paper.
A limited edition of 500 each, they are signed by madeleine rogers, numbered & stamped.

Cat Print MPC01 Mouse Print MPM01
Now to put in an order for some rain!

#67 Bholu Interior Brights

Bholu is a Katchchhi word that describes a term of endearment as well as the naivety & free expression of a small child.
Created by Jodi Fried, an Australian designer, the Bholu philosophy is about making gorgeous products as well as benefiting communities they work with. The company is proudly fair trade & climate neutral.
'Bholu products are brought to life by traditional artisans from rural & urban communities in India. Each piece is individually hand embroidered or handwoven using ancient techniques, giving each product its own unique & original personality. By using their traditional skills, the artisans gain an income, hence independence & opportunity as well as keeping a traditional craft alive.'
The entire line is absolutely sumptuous & incredibly well made but as well as owning something so gorgeous, the other big perk of a purchase from Bholu is knowing that part of the proceeds go back into the 'Bholu Anganwadi Project', which in conjunction with 'Architects Without Frontiers' has to date has built 8 pre schools in underprivilaged communities & has several more under construction. These schools provide over 280 children with education & a nutritious meal.

That's a purchase you can feel good about!

There are many other colours (including many neutrals) & designs available, including ranges of wallpaper, lampshades & throws.
I am crazy about the pillows, rugs & the frogs, both for a child's room & in more subdued tones for the family area.
Some pillows are first on the list!

#62 Petit Collage Wood Prints

As it might be apparent, I have somewhat of a soft spot for wooden toys... wood in general really.
I love the warmth & textures of natural products used in home ware's, I also much prefer a neutral palette with textural interest & accent colours as opposed to a lot of brights.
No surprise then that I'm very fond of wood prints.
This sample of prints from Petit Collage are a great example both of wood prints & as little glimpse of how effective a pop of colour against a neutral scheme can be.

NEW-By Air It Takes a Village
NEW-Horse with Baby Bear with Baby
Bird Love Tree
Farm Tower Ladybug Vine

NEW-Sailor Boy Pinwheel Girl

They are printed on to sustainably harvested maple veneer & are available in two sizes - either 8"x10" (matted) for $15, or 11"x14" (matted) for $25. They also available mounted in a hardwood maple wood frame for $45 in the smaller size or $65 in the larger.
The frames use acrylic in the place of glass so as to be safer for a child's room.

Those bears are absolutely adorable but I think my top pick of these is the village, on the basis that it will be more suitable for a longer period of time.
