#79 Portable Baby Chair

About a year ago a friend of mine bought the Little Beetle portable baby chair, a fabric chair that slips over most chairs (except for those that are very high backed), fastening securely at the back. I had never seen one before but quickly wished I had, it's such a handy little thing.
Great for holidays, visiting friends & family, as well as for cafes & restaurants. When you aren't using it it folds into it's own pocket & fits easily into your bag, it only weighs 160 grams so it's not like your lugging anything around in exchange for the convenience!

It's suitable for children who can sit unaided - 16kgs & is safety approved to Australian, US & European standards.
It's fully machine washable & is available in green, red & bright stripes.
You can find it online for $39.95 from Haggus and Stookles

Also available from Haggus and Stookles are these nifty little pieces..
The OnTray Trolley Snack Tray - clicks on to trolley handle & has a slide off lid: $12.99, Munchee Mug Snack Cup - stops snack spills (sultanas! argh!) as the lid is only open when the child's hand is inside: $12.95,  Baby U Juice Box Buddies - stops little ones squeezing juice boxes everywhere: $6.95

All 3 are BPA free & available in a range of colours.
We were given the Munchee Mug & both Master C & I love it. I'm particularly happy to not be wasting so much time crawling around on my hands & knees on the hunt for escapee snacks!

#64 Walnut Children's Shoes

Children's shoes are a bit ridiculous.
It's so hard to find nice shoes that are lightweight, with a somewhat flexible sole (that doesn't wear straight through after a bit of use), that little "big kids" can put on & off themselves.
More than anything, shoes with a price tag reflective of the fact that they will be grown out of in a matter of months.
Master C has enormous feet & goes up a size every couple of months, with that in mind I have a basic rule to not spend over $30 on a pair of his shoes.

Hello Walnut Melbourne!  Tennis shoes?

Cruise shoes?

Euro Plimsole?

Euro Knot Mary Jane? Classic Mary Jane's?

Euro Elastic? Ballet Flats? Euro Zip Top?

All of these walnut shoes have a flexible rubber sole, & easy wash canvas top.
Master C has the first pair pictured. We do a LOT of walking & they are yet to come even close to holes in the soles as many of his other pairs have. They are also very comfortable, i know because I have an adults pair exactly the same!
They come in many more colours than those that I have shown as well as additional styles.
Each of these pairs pictured only costs $29.95, think of all the money you'll save on kids shoes. Not to mention how cute they are!

I also like these gumboots although I've yet to see them in store. They are 'fur' lined rubber with a gator & adjustable toggle. These are a little bit more at $39.95 but since they don't have to fit as snuggly to begin with you can buy slightly larger to last longer.

They're available online from Walnut Melbourne & also in many stores including David Jones.

#59 Bamboo Children's Clocks & Eco Friendly Toothbrushes

I have just discovered Bamboo Village.
Look. At. These. Clocks....
Squeeee! These decoylab clocks are natural bamboo, have a natural oil finish & no ticking sound... Nursery perfect.
I just love them!

Decoylab Bamboo Clock - Bunny Decoylab Bamboo Clock - Elephant
Decoylab Bamboo Clock - Hedgehog Decoylab Bamboo Clock - Owl

The hare & the hedgehog are priced $69.95, the owl & elephant at $79.95.  I can't decide which is my favourite! Which is yours?

'The Environmental Toothbrush', also available from Bamboo Village, was the winner of the 2009 Green Invention People's Choice Award & were invented by an Australian dentist.
It is estimated that over 30 million plastic toothbrushes used & disposed of by Australians every year, that amounts to approximately 1000 tonnes of landfill... a mind blowing figure as it stands without even taking into account that it's only representative of an annual figure!
The Environmental Toothbrush can be disposed of in compost or landfill & will completely bio-degrade into soil in six months -  two years.
It is made predominately of bamboo which is 100% biodegradable & has natural antobacterial properties, the bamboo is heat treated to carbonise the surface, giving it a quality finish & a longer life span, this process also boosts it's water resistance & prevents the growth of bacterias & molds.
The bristles are made from a polymer which is also resistant to microbial growth.
Available in three styles - soft bristle, medium bristle & children's soft bristle, they cost only $3 each or $36 for a box of 12. Less than a regular toothbrush & a lot more environmentally responsible.
Also, they're pretty no?

The Environmental Bamboo Toothbrush - Single

I'm definitely going to order some, I'll let you know how they go!

Do you suppose I should test drive a clock as well?
You know, research *ahem*...
